What a great ride! Five years on YouTube

Hi Rocking Dan Teaching Man followers and fans,

It's been five years since my first music video The Friends of 10 was released on YouTube. I have updated the video and rerecorded the song to include a fourth verse since then. Rocking Dan Teaching Man has now had over 2.7 million YouTube views! I currently have 61 educational music videos for the primary classroom on my channel. The songs are about mathematics, literacy, social skills, classroom management and gross motor development. Check out my channel for some great educational tunes!  Music and movement are powerful tools in helping children learn new concepts and reinforce things they have previous learnt. Music and movement can also help children self regulate to find the optimal level between alertness and calmness to get them in a good frame of mind to be ready to learn. Music and exercise can also improve your mood!

You can also play my music on Spotify. Look out for my new album Rocking Dan Teaching Man 2 coming out soon!

Over the course of the last five years I've had some amazing experiences playing live for children in classrooms all over the world via SKYPE. It's such a great thrill to hear kids singing along with me from the other side of the world!

"Hello Delaware! What makes a good friend?"

I've been lucky enough to receive three different awards for my channel and I have featured in a number of newspaper and magazine articles.

It's been wonderful to be able to present my work and the share my passion for the power of music and movement as a multisensory tool to help children with their learning at teach meets and at an educational conference.

I've had an incredible ride over the last five years due to my YouTube channel. I've met some amazing teachers and teachertubers too! Thanks to everyone who has supported me. The biggest thrill for me is hearing kids singing my songs and to get feedback from teachers and parents about the positive impact my music has had on the learning of their children and students. It's always great to get a nice email or comment on a video from people. It's been a blast! Keep Rocking!

Last month was Dyslexia Awareness Month. Dyslexia means difficulty with words. 10%-15% of the population are on the dyslexic continuum so it's more common than many people think! Research shows that dyslexics need explicit, systematic, structured, cumulative teaching of the alphabetic code. Raising awareness of dyslexia is important as early intervention is key to helping dyslexic children with their learning and in doing so help to keep their self esteem and self worth intact. Read my blog post about My Dyslexic Journey here.
There are many challenges associated with being dyslexic but it also has its benefits. I know that if I was not dyslexic my YouTube challenge would not exist.

Rock on,
Rocking Dan Teaching Man
